艺术根本上是一种活动。不是活动的结果 ,也不仅仅是人的抽象的活动能力。离开了对一定艺术媒介的具体的、创造性的操作过程 ,艺术的想像将不可能实现。由于舞蹈活动直接通过人体动作来完成 ,不需要外在媒介 ,我们有理由认为 ,舞蹈是这种艺术精神最直接最充足的流露。人类的其他艺术形式不仅是从舞蹈中诞生 ,而且无论这些艺术如何发展 ,都未能全然脱离自己的母体。所有种类的艺术的躯体中将永远流淌着舞蹈的血液

Relationship Between Dance and Other Forms of Art

Art is essentially a kind of activity rather than the product of an activity or the general ability in activity. Artistic imagination will be impossible without an art as a medium. Since dance is performed with the movement of the human body, we believe that dance reveals its spirit most candidly. Then it follows that all the other forms of art have developed from dance, and that none of them have cut themselves completely from their matrix.
