浅析《老人与海》中的信仰观

《老人与海》是海明威小说中的经典之作。对于这部小说研究＂硬汉＂形象、＂冰山＂理论的文章比较多,但对小说中信仰文化的研究却相对较少。小说中老人的生存正是建立在自身独有的信仰体系之上。宗教信仰使老人能够乐观地对待生命的磨难;人生信仰使老人能够坦然地面对＂生＂与＂死＂这一矛盾的人生理念;自然信仰使老人能够在自身发展与自然限制这一矛盾中寻找到平衡点。《老人与海》中所体现的思想意蕴对当今人们自身发展的价值观选择具有一定的启示意义。

An Analysis on Cultural Belief in The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea is the classical novel by Hemingway,to which research has been mainly focused on ＂iron man＂ feature and ＂iceberg＂ theory.However,there has been relatively little conducted on the cultural belief in the story.The old man in the story rests on his own unique belief system,which enables him to live through hardships and tortures from life.Belief in religion generates optimism and positive future expectation;belief in life helps him to confront the controdictory existence of ＂death＂ and ＂life＂;belief in nature,makes the old man find a good balance point between his living and restrictions of nature.The beliefs incarnated in this story certainly have meaning to current value selections of self-development.
