The area of built-up land has increased quickly in China in recent years.Based on the statistics of built-up land area,the authors analyze the factors causing built-up land expansion,and points out the existing problem of built-up land over-expansion and its effect.The article points out that the increase of urban population,the demand of economic development,the implementation of the policy of collecting land and the drive of economic profits are the main factors of land expansion.Therefore,the article summarizes that land expansion will threat the foodstuff safety and biological safety of our country.So the article puts forward that our country should restrict the phenomenon of making profits over land and avoid land overexpansion.
