Dr Fisher’s casebook
Authors:Dr  Fisher
Affiliation:Dr Fisher has acted as unpaid consultant to numerous medical researchers. He has discovered that the most useful questions to ask the researcher concern how the data were generated. Reading his curriculum vitae, one would expect him to be an expert in most medical conditions, since he has co-authored papers over a wide area of medicine. Alas, his knowledge of medicine is rather like his knowledge of London: he knows areas around certain tube stations but has no idea how different areas connect.
Abstract:Over the years I have been consulted by many people on aspects of their research. Many were just the one brief encounter; they never came back and I never heard whether my advice had been heeded. As I say now to junior colleagues: " You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet a prince" .
