A New Review of Feng Dao

The well-known historical figure Feng Dao had held key official posts in several Dynasties during the Five Dynasties period.He is also a controversial figure: some people take him as a shameless and treacherous courtier,while some think he is capable and honourable,as kind as Buddha.In this paper,the author takes an affirmative view of Feng Dao.In order to get a correct understanding of him,it is necessary to break away from blind loyalty and racial discrimination,and make an objective appraisal of his autobiography Changlelao zixu.The reason why Feng Dao could have taken important positions for such a long time is because he was a distinguished politician in troubled times.
