中国农村教育改革的先声——对20世纪20年代至30年代乡村教育运动的再认识

The Forerunners of Rural Education Reform in China--Comments on the Rural Education Movement in the 1920's-1930's

As China is still an agricultural country, problems regarding rural areas and education for peasants have remained an important factor affecting and determining the process of Chinese modernization. The rural education movement launched in the 1920's-1930's was a great attempt at a comprehensive reform of rural education and to put the rural area onto the track of modernization. Forerunners of the rural education movement, such as Huang Yanpei, Yan Yangchu, Tao Xingzhi and Liang Shuming had similar and different purposes, approaches, ideas, and understanding in carrying out rural education, which provide us with valuable experience and lessons for reference and study. Revitalizing the nation with science and education and undertaking a comprehensive reform of rural education at the late 20th century have been known as the historical evolution of the rural education beginning at the early 20th century. Consequently, the pioneering spirit, experience and lessons of the forerunners of rural education are still what we should learn and can benefit from today.
