An analysis of the cause and the limitations of the economic development in the Nantang Dynasty

As the backbone of the southern countries contending with the Central Plains dur ing the Five Dynasties,Nantang Dynasty made great economic achievements under t he policy of closing the frontiers to the northern force of arms and saving the people from war disasters and with the economic basis in the southern Changjiang River and Huai River Basins. However,the long-term war with its neighbour coun tries,the feudal exploitation under the small production model, and together wit h the fierce faction struggle prevented the Nantang Dynasty from reaching a high er level in its economic development.A detailed analysis of this situation is of both accademic and practical significance.
