从《红楼梦》的误译看译者母语在文化传递中的角色

＂误译＂现象自古有之,《红楼梦》的翻译也不例外。杨宪益、霍克思两个译本中的误译现象多种多样,其中误解原文是导致误译的主要因素,而译者的母语在翻译中起着举足轻重的作用。作为翻译工作者,我们对误译所导致的语言之间的相互影响不能无动于衷,只有精益求精,才能扭转目前大量误译的尴尬局面。

The Role of A Translator＇s Native Language in Culture Conveyance from the Perspective of Mistranslation of Dreams of the Red Mansion

"Mistranslation" is often found in translated works,and the translation of Dreams of the Red Mansion is of no exception.Mistranslation cases in the two versions by Yang Xianyi and David Hawks are numerous,among which misunderstanding of the original work is the main reason,so the translator’s native language plays a vital role here.Being translators,we should not sit by irresponsibly in the face of interlingual influences resulted from mistranslation,and should work intensively and meticulously to change the awkward situation of wide-spread mistranslation.
