| 摘 要： | 本文以中英对照的方式简述了英文中的双言巧语(doublespeak)现象,笔者先根据双言巧语的目的和特点将其分为四类:婉语、行话滥用、官样文章和夸张离奇的语言,然后举例说明双言巧语在英语世界中的常见用途,包括那些在政府机关、商界、教育界和军事上的,最后笔者简要地提及双言巧语对英语学习者的积极意义。

| Abstract: | This article briefly describes the phenomenon of doublespeak in English.According to its na- ture and purpose,first the author categorizes doublespeak into four types:euphemism,abused jargon,gobbledygook,and inflated language.Next he uses many examples to illustrate the usage of doublespeak in the English-speaking world,including those in government,business, education and the military.Finally he briefly mentions educational value of doublespeak for English learners. |
