A Study on Contracting Translation Approach in English and Chinese Translations

It's crucial to consider the context of situation in handling the way the source language is translated and expressed.The form of translation in target language should be generally equivalent to the source language in function,i.e.,in conveying meaning and information.Meanwhile,the translation should be accessible to the habitual expressions in the target language.A theoretical comparison between Chinese and English definition and their characteristics of sentences suggests that using contraction in translation is one of the ways of the sentence combination translation,which is applied mainly to achieve intentional or habitual effect,and that contracting translation should start with certain basic conditions and considerations.The effect is in its preciseness,clearness and strong informativity.More examples are supplied and analyzed to show their advantages and the importance of the conditions and considerations in applying this translating method.
