Wang Li's Views on Chinese Disyllabic Roots and Their Influence

There are three stages（early,middle and late） in the development of Wang Li ’s views on the nature of Chinese disyllabic roots.His middle stage views,influenced by the social background in the 1950s,went contrary to the linguistic facts of Chinese.But his essential views at this stage,which was to be adhered to in the late stage,have become an essential part of the modern disyllabic root theory and thus act as a guidance for his followers in the study of Chinese disyllabic root words.Their negative effects should never be overlooked.
