As an essential theory in the field of cognitive linguistics,iconicity studies exist not only in lexicon and syntax,but also in text. Since language mirrors and maps the world,the present paper re-examines and makes a thorough analysis of the poem ＂The Red Wheelbarrow＂in terms of Iconicity of Phonology,Iconicity of Diagram,Iconicity of Quantity,Iconicity of Sequence,Iconicity of Distance and Iconicity of Psychology from a cognitive linguistic stand,proving a positive and practical significance of applying iconicity to the creation and appreciation of poems.
