The problems of cultural bias and consistence of behavior in clinical assessment

Cultural and racial factors play a role in clinical assessment.Assessment techniques developed on the basis of research with white populations may be inaccurate when used with non-white clients,and also may cause clinicians to over-or underestimate psychological problem in members of other cultures.Cognizing this important point,clinicians can use various methods to guard against the negative effects of cultural biases in assessment.In addition,whether human behavior is stable across situation is highly controversial.This issue has been of both theoretical and practical interest to psychologists for years.Traditional personality theorists believe that people will behave fairly stable in a variety of situations,but learning paradigm theorists argue that behavior across situations is probably more variable.
