贾涉事功述评——以南宋中期淮东的防务为中心

贾涉在宋金蒙三国势力交错、兴替时期,在处理边防、流民及涉外事务方面表现卓越,贾涉的成功,在于他能掌握时势,适切地执行宋廷的政策巩固边防,接纳、处理山东忠义军,利用这批武力成为恢复故土和救援危急的主要力量;进而观察时势变动,推动联结蒙古的外交活动。这些都是他在变动不定的大时代中能出人头地、晋升高位的因素。忠义军与李全势力的发展,对贾涉功业的影响最大。他对忠义军采取利诱和分化的手段,在初期颇能得心应手,但随着李全势力坐大,裂土割据之心转强之后,使贾涉穷于应付,竟致心力俱疲,显示他的作法与朝中决策不一致,加上奥援不足,陷于难以掌握时势的困境。

Commentary on Jiashe

Jiashe exhibits his excellence in dealing with foreign affairs, refugees and frontier defense during the period of power alternation of Song, Jin and Mongolia. His succes lies in his rapid grasping the opportunity, carrying out the policy of the Song government, and promoting the alliance with Mongolia. What influences his achievements most is the development of Zhongyijun and Liquan's power. But later he is divergent on dealing with state affairs with Song government and finally is put in an awkward predicament.
