Theoretical Evolution of Contemporary Development Studies

as a new subject , development studies rose in the western countries after the Second World War , and it has seen a theoretical evolution which consists of several academic schools such as orthodoxy school , revised school , radical school and critical school . This thesis deals with the main characteristics and the academic and social backgrounds of these schools , and the writer points out that development studies cannot further evolve because of its inner contradiction between the ever-deepening development goals and the single development measure , and also because of its external contradiction between the theory deeply influenced by the western social background and the reality of the developing countries.
