思想家的凸显与淡出——略论李泽厚新时期学思历程

1980年代李泽厚在哲学、美学(含文艺学)及中国思想史三大领域以其深厚学养应对了时代呼唤,扮演了思想大师的角色,“凸显”其思想家的形象;1990年代他经历了从“告别革命-倡导改良-不谈启蒙-不谈政治”的精神演化,由于无力生产新的思想来呼应1990年代中国社会语境的精神亟需而逐渐“淡出”思想界。1994年他所以断言1990年代“学问家凸显、思想家淡出”,可能与他的角色自期及其未能理解人文学者的角色自觉所蕴涵的价值有关。

The Standing-out and Fading-out of a Thinker: A Critique to Li Zehou's Academic Experience in the New Era

In 1980s, Li Zehou played a role of a master thinker in echoing the call of the time by his abundant academic knowledge in three areas, i. e. , philosophy, aesthetics (including theory of literature and art) and Chinese history of ideas, to "stand out" an image of a thinker. Then, in 1990s, he was undergoing a spiritual process from "a farewell to revolution" to "advocating reformism", to "no more talking about enlightenment", to "no more talking about politics". He was gradually "fading out" among the thinkers, owing to his inability in producing new ideas to meet a spiritual need in the 1990s' context of Chinese society. He asserted in 1994 that "the thinkers are fading out, while the scholars are standing out", which may have a bearing on his self-expectation of role, as well as his failure to understand the value contained in the self-awareness of humanist scholars.
