自汉迄唐,皇帝死后葬期长短不一,北宋一改旧观,恢复了“天子七月而葬”的儒家礼制;山陵役夫情况,正史中讳莫如深,作者从《金石萃编》等书中找出了有力证据;对山陵耗费,文章特别注意到“间接花费”和“山陵维护”等为常人所忽略的问题;嗣君为什么大建山陵?本文亦有自己的见解。

A Study on Funeral Ceremony of Emperors in North Song Dynasty (Part 1)

From the Han Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty there was no uniform length oftime from the death and interment of an emperor. The North Song Dynasty chan-ged this habit and restored the ancient Confucian rites that "the empero, is interredwithin seven months". As to the servicemen of the royal tomes there is literally norecord in official history. The author has found from such books as "Anthology ofEpigraphy" very persuasive evidence thereon. The essay pays special attention tosuch often neglected issues as "indirect expenditure" and "maintenance fee of the tom-bs". The author has also given his own view about the reason why the new empe- for added enormous buildings and other censtruction projects to the tomb of the pre-ceding emperor.
