Discussions on the Landscape Features in the South of the Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River: A Case Study of Pingjiang Historic Streets in Suzhou

The unique geographical environment in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River gives rise to the specific landscape characteristics of historic streets in the region.Through analyzing the Pingjiang historic streets in Suzhou,the paper summarizes its constituents and features as well as their relationship.In order to retain the original flavor and visual attractiveness of the historic streets,the author proposes some suggestions including policies for protection and planning for improvement.
