商务英语专业学生英语词典使用调查研究

商务英语已成为许多高等院校开设的新兴本科专业。与普通英语专业学生相比，商务英语专业学生在英语词典使用方面表现出一些不同特点。本研究对大学商务英语专业学生的英语词典使用行为进行了调查，内容包括所用词典数量、常用词典类别、词典使用目的、词典使用技能等四个方面。调查结果显示，学生商务英语学习中英语词典参与度不够高，词典类别涉及较少，使用目的比较单一，词典使用技能比较薄弱。研究发现，商务英语学习需要强化英语词典角色，学生需要了解和使用不同类型的英语词典，英语词典使用技能培训亟待加强。纸质词典、英英词典、商务专业词典和非词典类辞书需要得到更大程度的运用。充分发挥英语词典的辅助功能，可以使商务英语学习事半功倍。

An Investigation into English Dictionary Use by Business English Majors

Business English has been functioning as a newly-developed undergraduate academic specialty in many colleges and universities. Compared with the general English majors, Business English majors have some distinguishing features in terms of the use of English dictionaries. The present research investigates into the English dictionary use by Business English majors, examining the variety and classification of dictionaries used as well as purposes and skills of dictionary use. The results reveal an insufficient use of English dictionaries, a lack of diversity in dictionary types, limited purposes of using dictionaries and underdevelopment in dictionary using skills among business English majors in their process of Business English learning. The research claims that English dictionaries need to play a stronger role in the process of Business English learning, that learners are required to understand and use English dictionaries of different types, and that skills should be trained in the perspective of English dictionary using. A wider utilization is needed to such dictionaries as paper dictionaries, English monolingual dictionaries, Business English dictionaries and non-dictionary reference works. A sufficient use of English dictionaries will get twice the result with half the effort in the process of Business English learning.
