Fertility and economic status - some recent findings on differentials in Sweden

Abstract The relationship between economic status and family size has generally been found to be negative; the lower the income the higher the fertility. In some cases this inverse relationship breaks down at the top end of the income scale; in other words, people with very high incomes have larger families than those with high incomes. In a few rather special cases positive relationships have been found(1).
