The Way of Social Status Expression of Rural People in North China in the Early 20th Century

In the early 20th century,ceremonial activities such as weddings,funerals,a baby's completion of its month of life,and old person birthday and so on in North China villages,not only met rural public ceremonious demands technically,but also were an important way of expression of social position.To hold the above ceremonies,their expenditure often exceeded peasants' actual capacity,even to the irrational degree.By this way,they displayed their social status and guaranteed it not to be underestimated.
