How Yingpanpo Market Came into Being and Developed

This paper examines the traditional costume trading market near Yingpanpo in Kaili, Guizhou Province. Also, it reveals the conscious utilization of cultural resources by the local ethnic groups and its special forms in the conditions of market economy. The author points out that the existence of the market has both intensified the commodity consciousness of the local ethnic groups and protected their traditional cultural resources. Thus, on the one hand, the market has promoted the collection and protection of the costumes on the verge of extinction, and on the other, it has made the local ethnic groups who took part in the trading activities in the market value their cultural resources to a more extent.
