当代英国的穆斯林问题

欧洲穆斯林一直是欧洲社会一个醒目的问题,如何使人数众多的穆斯林融入所在国,一直是欧洲各国政府面临的难题。作为推行多元文化模式的英国,其穆斯林与当地社会的相对融洽在西欧是比较突出的。但同时,穆斯林社团和英国社会主流价值观之间的差异以及一系列国际危机,却往往引起穆斯林和英国社会的冲突。究其原因,实际上是多元文化模式固有矛盾所造成的困境,是国民身份认同与族裔认同之间的矛盾带来的结果。

The Contemporary British Muslims

Muslims in Europe have been a striking problem in the contemporary European communities. How to integrate so many Muslims into a nation-state has always been a tough problem for the European governments. In the UK, a nation of multiculturalism, the relation between the Muslims and the local communities is relatively peaceful, which is rather exceptional in west Europe. The differences between the Muslins and the main-stream social values and some international crises, however, result in frequent grudges between the Muslims and the British society. After all, this is a dilemma brought forth by the Multiculturalism with its intrinsic difficulties and by the contradiction between national identity and the ethnic identity.
