A Paradox and Mixture of Political Awareness and Human Nature --An Interpretation of "Red Beans" by Zong Pu

There is a subtle and complicated relationship between literature and politics. Literature should not act as the mouthpiece of politics or become pure literature away from life. To do it justice, "Red Beans", written by Zong Pu in the extraordinary years, was limited by the then political environment on one hand and it enriched and developed human nature on the other hand. As for the choice of its theme, it is a continuation to the "revolution plus love" subject in the 1930s as well as a kind of desertion from the main literary trend of writing about revolutionary war or life adapted for political needs during the period from 1949 to 1966.
