Through the Years——Chinese Women Celebrate March 8

Chinese women celebrated their first International Women's Day in 1924. The celebration was held at the No.1 Public Park in Guangzhou City, initiated by the Central Women's Department of the Kuomintang government. During the celebration, Madame He Xiangning, who was in charge of publicity affairs, chaired a meeting that was attended by more than 1,000 people from women's federations and more than 20 public women's schools of higher education or professional training, including a women drivers' continuation school.
