中西方文化的差异导致其思维模式迥然不同。汉民族重直觉悟性思维,英语民族则偏逻辑理性思维,不同的思维模式深刻地影响着各自的语言。本文初步探讨了中西方两种思维模式的成因,从字形、词汇、句法、篇章四个层面对比了两种思维模式对汉语和英语语言表达形式的影响以期对理解汉英不同的语言现象有所裨益

The Impact of Thought Patterns on Chinese and English

Language is the dress of thought. Thought pattern of China is quite distinct from that of the West because of different cultures to which they belong. The Chinese adopt a thought pattern of intuition and understanding while the Englishmen follow a thought pattern of logic and reason, which makes a profound impact on each language. This paper deals with the tentative causes of formation of the two thought patterns and the impact of thought patterns on Chinese and English, making comparisons between them from morphological level, lexical level, syntactic level and textual level, in order to help one understand better some linguistic phenomena of the two languages.
