Opportunities and Accompanying Barriers to Korean Unification

There have been a series of indications of mitigation in the Korean Peninsula by the end of the twenties century, which reflects the trend of the time. They have resulted from various factors: From the exterior, the reasons are the eased tension between the east and the west, the end of the Cold War, economic globalization and regional unity, the influence of great powers. From the interior, the reasons are the need to develop their respective economy, the same ethnic identity and their concern over the regional safety. However, the opportunities for the Korean Unification are accompanied by some barriers.
