| Abstract: | Members of the German Society for Geriatric Research (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Alternsforschung) and various invited speakers met in Karlsruhe, Germany, in November 2004 to discuss new findings and exchange views on intriguing problems in the broad field of aging research. This report summarizes some of the diverse topics that arose at the meeting, including diapause in insects, mitochondrial morphology in fungi, the production of reactive oxygen species, neurogenesis, and age-dependent changes of the cardiac system in mammals. |
