Disbursements of the Qing Court for the Administration of Tibet

This paper deals with the disbursements of the Qing Court for the administration of Tibet. The various chapters describe the position of the Amban (official appointed by the Qing court and residents in Tibet), the Amban's role in budgeting local Tibetan government finances for the aristocracy and their stipends, rewards and fines, the government relay stations, disaster relief, and the administration of coinage and trade. The paper concludes that the Qing Court's policies in Tibet depended largely on its financial capability, which affected the extent and degree of its administration.
