| Abstract: | As one of the most outstanding American novelists of the 20th century, William Faulkener took great pains to portray a group of southern women who were influenced by Puritanism. Their lives were extremely unhappy, their dispositions were suppressed and distorted and they were victims of the mythology of feminine chastity fabricated by Puritanism. Faulkener boldly challenged the myths of feminine chastity and conventional morality and expressed his beautiful wishes in his novels. |
