通常对哲学境界的理解是从中国传统哲学背景出发：哲学境界之所以存在是由于哲学可以提高＂人＂的精神境界和理想生活;然而,从马克思主义哲学出发可以看出人的独特生命活动——实践使人具有一种超越现实的＂形上本性＂。哲学作为一种表征人的＂形上本性＂的理论形式,本身具备一种超越经验常识的形上诉求,哲学境界即是这种形上诉求。因此,哲学境界并非为中国传统哲学特有之物,作为表征人类＂形上本性＂的形上诉求,正是哲学本身应有之义。
