在被西方文论界誉为＂侦探小说女王＂的阿加莎.克里斯蒂逝世15年后,一颗侦探小说的新星出现在20世纪90年代的英国文坛上。她就是有＂阿加莎.克里斯蒂第二＂、＂新推理之王＂之称的米涅.渥特丝。这两位虽然生不同时,但同是作为英国侦探小说女性作家的杰出代表,常常有人论及她们的相似与传承关系,其实两者在小说创作的很多方面大不相同。本文拟从人物塑造、社会主题,以及创作特色等几个方面对克里斯蒂和渥特丝进行比较,并探讨她们作品的文学价值。

A Comparative Study of Agatha Christie and Minette Walters

Nearly fifteen years after the death of Agatha Christie, the Queen of Crime,a star came on the literary scene of Britain in 1990s and this was Minette Walters,the new queen of British crime writers.Although living in different times,as the outstanding female representatives of English detective stories these two writers have much in common.But the differences between the two are obvious.In view of this,this paper aims at comparatively studying,to find out the similarities where they differ and differences where they resemble as well as the weaknesses and strong points,and on the basis of which,to make an appraisal of the literary values of their creations.
