| 摘 要： | 英语委婉语"掩饰"功能的基本特征就是所表达的"表面意义"和未说的"实际意义"的不一致.委婉语掩饰功能反映在日常生活、政治生活及战争中;英语委婉语掩饰功能尽管在日常生活中被某些人当作欺骗宣传和强词夺理的工具在一些方面滥用,但只要正确理解委婉语和其掩饰功能的含义作用,注意不同的交际对象,分清不同场合,注意联系委婉语的文化背景,结合交际过程中的语言环境巧妙使用,它在交际过程中发挥的作用是不可低估的.

| Abstract: | English euphemism has one social functons: concealment. Enphemism is widely used in people' social life and it can raise people's social status,resist social prejudice and cover truth to deceive people as well.Applying euphemism properly and understanding euphemism correctly can avoid going into a trap in communication,ensure a smooth and effective communication and understand the real meanings. |
