摘    要:20世纪50年代的美国中国研究,受麦卡锡主义的影响趋于沉寂,但儒家思想研究非常活跃。儒家思想研究之所以活跃,主要原因在于国内社会政治环境、儒家思想是有待研究的学术领域、冀儒家思想理解共产主义中国。这一时期的儒家思想研究具有鲜明特色,即注意借鉴社会科学的理论方法及“外在研究理路”。20世纪50年代的儒家思想研究,在一定程度上纠正了对儒家思想的错误认识、加深了对儒家经世传统思想的认识,并为进一步理解传统中国提供了有价值的洞见。当然,此时期的儒家思想研究亦存在局限,即“外在研究理路”这种方法,未能有效解决人的“历史性”与“超越性”之间的紧张关系。

Analysis on the Study of Confucianism in America in the 1950's

Abstract:Because of the influence of McCarthyism, the Chinese studies in America in the 1950s became increasingly unknown to the public, However, the study of Confucianism is flourishing, The reason of this can be summerized in the following three aspects: First, the domestic social and political environment; Second, Confucianism ought to be further studied; Third, scholars can understand Communist China better through studying Confucianism. During this period, research on Confucianism was characterized with the methodology which has absorbed the social science and"external research lines", In some extent, the study of Confucianism in this period had rectified the wrong understanding on Confucianism and deepered the research on the traditional Confucianism. All the above is valuable in understanding traditional China. Of course, the study on this subject has localization which we can see in the nervous relation between human being's "history" and "transcendence"
