| Abstract: | Based on a comprehensive scrutiny of Leonardo da Vinci's artistic and aesthetic thoughts, his unique conception of the essence of the visual arts, and the aesthetic criterion he set for the relationship between realism and reproduction, the paper concludes that empiricism and pantheism are the philosophical foundations of his artistic creation. |
