The Change of Strategic Relationship between America and Afghanistan

Afghanistan is a small landlocked country but its geopolitical status is very important. In the early days of the cold war, when America and the Soviet Union began to compete in the country, they both provided economic aid to it. In 1979, when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, America supported the afghans to resist the aggression. After the Cold War, five countries in Central Asia proclaimed independence, and Afghanistan's Geopolitical status became more important. After the 9-11 incident, America launched a war against the Afghan Taliban government and then dominated the country's reconstruction, and its military forces also entered the central Asian area. Afghanistan has become an important tool in America's global strategy.
