There are many viewpoints on the reasons of disyllablization in Chinese vocabulary within the academic circles, such as the theory of the simplification of pronunciation, the absorption of foreign words, the separation of semantic type and image, the exactness of expression, the aesthetic concept, the rhythm of the constitution of word, the lexicalization of synlactic structure, and etc. The article thinks that all of these theories can partly explain the reasons of disyllablization in Chinese vocabulary from different angles, but each reason cannot cause the disyllablization independently. The reasons of disyllablization in Chinese vocabulary are comprehensive, and each factor makes different effect in concrete words.
