Abstract: | Professor Clark's (1986) claim that discrimination plays little role in explaining segregation was challenged in my contrary review (1988). Clark (1988) has responded, and here I offer a rejoinder. I go further and suggest that the multiple factors related to segregation should be seen as interdependent components in a complex web of mutually causal interrelationships. Preliminary attempts to estimate such a model suggest that discrimination may play an even more important role than is conventionally believed. |
