| Abstract: | Following an analysis of the merits and demerits of the principle of Closest Con-nection and the Method of Characteristic Performance,this article points out that acombined application of the said principle and method is a necessity as such a combi-nation creates a rational framework for determining applicable law and provides animportant condition for the unification of international laws applicable to economiccontracts. |
