《喜福会》在中国单一的读者接受及其根源

中国《喜福会》研究虽然成果很多,但多集中于冲突和身份等问题,呈现较为单一的文化政治批评。本文拟从文本和阐释群体两极,分析其中原由。不管是小说的框架寓言,还是小说本身,都反反复复集中于母女冲突,而一代移民母亲体现中国文化,二代移民女儿体现西方文化,因此,母女冲突实质为东西文化冲突,身份认同问题,文化冲突、文化身份成为文本极为突显的"内容存储",多视角的叙事策略使冲突进一步加强,强烈召唤读者解读其文化冲突和身份问题。同时,当前的多元文化潮流以及以政治批判为特征的后现代大环境使"阐释集体"具有文化冲突、政治批评的期待视域,该期待视域自然响应文本召唤,由此,产生《喜福会》在中国单一的读者接受。

Simplex Reader''''s Reception of The Joy Luck Club in China and the Causes Thereof

The reading of The Joy Luck Club in China,although fruitful,is quite simplex,centering on cultural conflict and identity mainly.This paper tends to analyze the causes thereof from two perspectives: the text itself and the "interpretive community".Both the frame stories and the narrative itself center on the conflict between mothers and daughters repeatedly.The conflict between FOB mothers and ABC daughters signifies an East/West cultural opposition,which becomes the outstanding "repertoire" of the text.Moreover,multi-perspective narrating strategy of the text reinforces the conflict and invites the conflict interpretations strongly.At the same time,in the present postmodern culture,the horizon of expectancy of the scholars is of cultural and political orientation.Therefore,there appears the simplex reading of the text.
