人类已进入21世纪的信息社会和知识经济时代,国际竞争日趋激烈,中国成功加入世界贸易组织,这既意味着机遇,也意味着挑战.对于像我国这样一个发展中国家,要在全球经济一体化的市场中站稳脚跟,就必须强化外语人才的培养,尤其是要提高人才的专业外语水平.分析高校专业英语水平的现状,论述强化专业英语的重要性和必要性,并提出一些建议.

Strengthen the Traing of Specialized People in English for Specific Purposes in Higher Institutions to Meet the Challenge

We have entered 21th century,which is called information and knowledge economy age.We have to be faced with more fierce international competitions.China has entered into WTO,which means challenges as well as opportunities.As far as China,a developing country,is concerned,its higher institutions must strengthen the training of foreign language professionals,especially the training of professional people in English for specific purposes in order that China can hold its position in the highly-integrated world market of economy.The reality of the level of college English for specific purposes is analyzed,the importance of strengthening the training in English for specific purposes is presented and some suggestions are given for reference.
