Contrastive Study of Specific Intertextuality in Chinese and American Written Statement of Court Judgment

As one of the important properties of every discourse, intertextuality is often applied to discourse analysis and interpreta- tion. With the introduction of specific intertextuality, the article analyzes and contrasts specific intertextual devices applied in Chinese and American court judgments to find out their respective linguistic features with the interpretation of power relations between the judge and the litigants contained in Chinese and American courts, which is expected to be beneficial to the reading and writing of judi- cial documents.
