"有汾、浍以流其恶"之"恶"解

《左传》成公六年载有晋迁都新田时晋公族、重臣们的辩论,多数人主张迁到今运城盆地的“郇、瑕氏之地”,唯独韩厥力主迁往新田(今侯马市西北)。双方都列举了各自的理由,其中主张迁新田的韩厥在申述新田作为都城的理由时有一句话,“有汾、浍以流其恶”。对于“恶”字,杜注及后来的史学著作皆以为是“垢秽”、“污秽骯髒之物”等,即我们今天所说的生活垃圾。笔者经过细致的辨别与推敲,认为“有汾、浍以流其恶”之“恶”当是指因农业收成不好而导致的饥荒之年。

"Fen River and Hui River can flow with the rubbish"was recorded in the sixth year of Lu State's Chenggong of "Zuozhuan".This was a reason that Hanjue,a minister of Jin State,suggested to move the capital to Xintian.But some ministers believed that moving the capital to Xun and Xia place would be better.Subsequently,some historians think that the pivotal word "rubbish" means the junk the people made.I consider it is another hint that the Jin State's people met with fatally lean years.
