现代新儒学的本质是道德决定论

现代新儒家是中国现代思想史上的三大学派之一,它试图为中国未来的现代化提出一条切实可行的方案。而现代新儒家的基本理念是坚持思想文化决定、解决其他一切社会问题。其表现为:在方法论上他们都是"中体西用"论者,即中学为体,西学为用。他们所坚持的"中体"就是传统儒学的道德学说或心性之学,"西用"虽已不同于洋务派的西艺、西技,但本质是一致的,仍是19世纪"中体西用"理论的现代翻版。此外,由于现代新儒家的绝大多数学人都是道德决定论者,这也决定了他们在相当程度上不仅不是现代化发展的动力,而是巨大的障碍。

Essence of modern new-Confucianism is moral determinism

Modern new-Confucianism is one of the three major schools in modern Chinese ideological history. It attempts to offer a practicable solution to Chinese modernization. The basic theories preached in the new-Confucianism hold firm belief that various social issues are determined by the ideology and culture and can be solved through adhering to them. Its menifesfions are as follows: the people harbouring such theories are those who firmly believe that Chinese moral is the basic and foreign science and technology should be introduced to serve it in terms of methodology. The Chinese moral they preach is actually the moralism in traditional Confucianism. The introduction of foreign science and technology on the surface differs from the "Learning-from-foreign partition" but can still find the origin in the theories prevailing in the 19th century. What's more, most of the new-Confucianists are moral determinists. This decides that the theories they preach to a great degree are not the driving force but the great obstacles to the development of modernization.
