Stakeholder Theory and It's Application Prospect in Higher Education

Stakeholder theory was first developed in the field of corporation management.The corporation management has changed from stakeholder affecting to stakeholder participating since 1960-1980,and the Stakeholder Theory has penetrated from private organization to public sector.The influence of the stakeholder theory covers beyond the field of corporation management,and diffuses to the field of economy,politics,and society.This article presents the differences between stakeholder theory and shareholder primacy theory;it also introduces the development,influences,application of the stakeholder theory,the definition and classifies about the stakeholder,and discusses the application of the Stakeholder theory in higher education as well.Furthermore,this article suggests that higher education Institutions is the nexus of the stakeholders,the nature of the higher education institutions governance is the cooperating mechanism of the "stakeholder in higher education",and the stakeholder model can apply in higher education.
