| Abstract: | In the motivation of words, Chinese and English have much in common. The formation of words both in Chinese and English is based on onomatopoeic motivation, semantic motivation, and logical motivation. It is true that both languages use the motivations in different ways. Besides, the Chinese word is characteristic of mimicry. Comparison of motivations in Chinese and English is a base of the comparative study of English and Chinese lexicology. |
