试论“等效翻译”及其局限性

“等效”是当代翻译理论研究的重要课题之一 ,它虽产生于特定的社会文化背景 ,却对翻译理论研究和文学翻译实践具有一定的指导意义。但是 ,“等效”理论在读者群界定问题上颇有争议 ,理论框架结构还有一些难以自圆其说之处。因此 ,在目前情况下 ,追求读者反应的大致相同可能对指导翻译活动更具可操作性

On Equivalent Effect and its Limitations

Equivalent Effect" is one of the most prevailing concepts of contemporary theory of translation. The paper traces the development of this concept and affirms its contribution to the theory of translation. After considering its confusion in terms of defining the readership, however, the author discusses the limitation as a guiding principle for translating evaluation. It is concluded that the proper solution to the dilemma may lie in the pursuit of the maximun equivalence in effect.
