摘    要:新加坡是一个由移民组成的多民族、多语言的小国,政府的语文政策关乎国内民族平等和与周边国家的关系。在东南亚民族主义高涨、土著民族排华、冷战对抗的时代背景下,新加坡脱离殖民统治,走向自治,加人马来西亚联邦,到最后独立建国等一系列重大事件,极大地影响了新加坡的语文教育政策。20世纪50-80年代,新加坡政府以实用主义为原则,根据内外局势的变化不断地调整语文政策,最终形成了统一的双语教育格局。

Abstract:Singapore is a multilingual country with various peoples of immigrants. The country's language policy is strongly re- lated to internal ethnic equality and external international relations. In a background of surging nationalism, aboriginal people's anti - Chinese emotionalism, Cold War confrontation in Southeast Asia, Singapore's language policy is greatly affected by the his- torical process of decolonization, autonomy, the union with Malaysia Federation and independence. From 1950s to 1980s, Singa- pore Government, based on the principle of utilitarianism, has been insistently changing its language policy in favor of domestic and foreign situation. Ultimately, the unified bilingual education system is established.
