简论西夏经济与地理环境的关系

唐末以来,在诸多政治和军事集团的并立与混战中,党项及其政权之所以异军突起,倚靠的不仅是统治集团日益增强的军政实力,更重要的是其控制区域内持续发展的多种类型的经济,这包括兴灵地区的平原农业、银夏地区的山地农牧业、河西走廊地区的绿洲农牧业。发达的交通和贸易正是不同经济区域得以沟通乃至形成对周边地区民族经济辐射的关键因素。

On Relationship between Economy and Geographical Environment of the Western Xia

Since the late Tang dynasty, many political and military blocs co-existed and there are conflicts now and then. However, the Dangxiang ethnic group and its regime became outstanding amidst them. This is not only due to increase of its military power of the ruler. What's more, it's due to sustainable development of economy of various forms in the areas controlled by the ruler, which cover agriculture of plain in Lingzhou, animal husbandry in the mountainous area of Yinxia and agriculture and animal husbandry in Oasis of Hexi Passage way. Well-developed transportation and trade make it possible for the various types of economies to communicate with one another and spread to the surrounding areas.
