Traditional Ecological Culture of the Manchu Nationality and College Education

The spirit of ecological protection exists in the lifestyles, production modes, religious beliefs, customs and ethics of the Manchu nationality. The Manchus＇ ecological cultural idea that gives moral concern to the nature agrees with the contemporary ecological ethics. It reflects the recognition and respect of the nature＇s self-worth and the right to live which are human-independent. The traditional beliefs of Shamanism, for example, make close the emotional ties between Manchus and the nature through rituals and mythologies and realize the harmonious coexistence of man and the nature. The exploration of environmental protection thoughts in the ecological culture of the Manchu nationality has important value and beneficial enlightenments to ecological culture education of China＇s contemporary university students.
